Requirements:

The applicant must be an adult with a clean criminal record, be from a non-EU country, and have not previously been refused visas or entry into the EU.

 

Duration:

The residence card is issued for two years, renewable, and the applicant must stay in Portugal for a minimum of 7 days in the first year and 14 days in subsequent years.

 

Access to Citizenship:

After 5 years, holders can apply for permanent residence or Portuguese citizenship, which offers the possibility of living, working, and studying in any EU country.
